My Approach

I use a variety of theoretical practices…

Cognitive-BehavioralTtherapy (CBT)

CBT helps you identify unhealthy thinking patterns that are worsening your condition to replace them with positive ones. I will help you improve your outlook in life and, therefore, engage in healthier behaviors.

Solution-Focused Therapy

This form of therapy helps you improve your problem-solving techniques by identifying the best solutions for your situation. We will evaluate the pros and cons and the costs and benefits of your contemplating choices to find the most appropriate one.

Reality Therapy

Reality Therapy points out how certain patterns might not work out for you – and why they are not. I would challenge you to avoid going back to past patterns and stay in the present.

But my passion and training is in Gestalt therapy…

Gestalt Therapy is a humanistic method of psychotherapy.

This means that it focuses on helping people stay true to themselves; in other words, staying in tune with your emotions by accepting them and learning how to navigate them. Everybody is unique, and they see their world in their “unique way” that’s why everyone has a different way to experience the same situation.

It takes a holistic approach to human experience.

Gestalt is not only a therapy approach, but it is also a philosophy of life. Through Gestalt, we learn to achieve our own fulfillment in life by staying attentive to our basic and other more complex needs. We are taught how to “learn” from our own emotions, which always help us grow if we allow them.

This growth impacts every aspect of our lives by staying authentic with ourselves, not only helping us stay in tune with our emotions. It will always allow us to improve the quality of our relationship with others, our functionality at work/school, and any other aspect you can think of.

Gestalt Therapy aims to increase awareness of present emotional and physical needs and take responsibility for them to facilitate authenticity and self-acceptance.

Most people don’t realize how many signs our body sends us to let us know something is not right: headaches, muscular tension, pains, etc. These symptoms could tell you something you might need to reflect on, something that might have happened that has affected your balance. This balance can be restored if you learn to give yourself what you need.

Sounds crazy, huh? But it’s not. I’ve seen it happening thousands and thousands of times. I’m amazed at the breakthroughs I have witnessed from guiding clients through just listening to their body and accepting emotions, and this is the meaning of “taking responsibility.” Can you tell I love what I do?

Gestalt Therapy helps us understand and make sense of our world and our experiences while focusing on what is happening in the “here and now.” It is based on understanding a person within their own environment by achieving greater insight into their experience of “being in the world.”

Gestalt Therapy has been successfully integrated into treatment programs…

… for adults and teens who are being treated for substance abuse, addiction, mood disorders, eating disorders, life transitions (relocating, divorce, career change), grief/loss, trauma, compulsive behaviors, anxiety, depression, and related conditions.

As a Gestalt therapist, it’s not my goal to change you. Rather…

I help my clients take responsibility not only for their actions, but also for their emotions.

I will help you accept emotions that you wanted to escape…

I’ll assist you to accept and navigate your emotions instead of just “coping” with them.

You won’t need to “cope” because you will learn to reflect on your feelings and identify your needs and priorities.

I’ll encourage you to be more aware of yourself, stay present, and process things in the here and now.

When we stay focused on the past or the future, we miss what is going on NOW. Therefore, we ignore what we are experiencing in this given moment. This is crucial information we are not prioritizing, and that can provide the relief to our struggles.

You’ll learn “self-regulation,” where you’ll be able to develop personal resources to navigate your true emotions and needs.

Through therapy, people learn to uncover feelings that may have been “numbed” or masked by other feelings and to accept and trust their emotions. When we struggle to accept our feelings, we can’t reflect on them, missing the opportunity to recognize what we need to feel better. That’s why many people stay “stuck” or “fixated” on something.

During Gestalt Therapy, you will learn about you, even about certain aspects of yourself that you might unconsciously “reject,” which causes difficulty in functioning in some situations. By learning about them, you can finally take control and make different choices that can help you be the best version of YOU.

I won’t take a one-size-fits-all approach with you…

It’s a real gift to be able to stay flexible and implement different approaches depending on your needs.

I will spend enough time to make sure I pick the best combination of interventions that will be tailored to your specific needs. Your progress in therapy and achieving your goals will be the best indicators of my interventions’ efficacy.

We will always review this progress together as this is collaborative teamwork.

Say goodbye to your struggles…
